ACTS Seminaries of Trinity Western University are poised to offer their sixth annual ‘Smarter Families’ event May 9 – 10.

The conference offers workshops and seminars on such issues as Teaching Couples to Embrace Differences; Imperfect Parenting for Imperfect Kids; How to Run Pornography Recovery Groups; and Affair Recovery Principles.

Every year Smarter Families equips lay leaders, pastors and Christian counsellors with tools to help with marriage, parenting and recovery ministries in the local church.  

This year’s plenary speakers, are seasoned therapists Paddy and Carole Ducklow. Along with being pastor at CapChurch on the North Shore, Paddy is a psychologist; Carole is a registered clinical counsellor.

The husband and wife team have over 30 years of experience in counselling, coaching and consulting, and are recognized experts in Marriage Mentoring, a congregation-based approach to enriching and strengthening marriages.

Their philosophy is that most people’s lives get stuck because their thinking gets stuck. In their marriage ministry development for churches, they offer ‘tool boxes of useable skills.’
