China increases persecution prior to games, says EFC

THE Evangelical Fellowship of Canada’s Religious Liberty Commission recently released Broken Promises, a 27-page report on the persecution of Christians in China.  

Subtitled ‘The Protestant Experience with Religious Freedom in China in Advance of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games,’ it identifies the general extent of persecution faced by the Protestant house church movement in China.

It also documents trends which illustrate continued repression of freedom of religion, evidently taking place even as China aggressively promotes its Olympics.  The EFC presented the report at a one-day symposium held on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
