MORE than 600 people from churches all over Metro Vancouver attended the three-hour September 9 ‘Praying Together’ event at Glad Tidings Church in Vancouver.

Dave Carson, pastor of Burnaby’s First Century Church, described a sense of fervent prayer. “The overall theme was ‘Crying out to God for our city and our nation,’” he said.

The main speaker was J. Lee Grady, editor of Charisma magazine. Following his talk, prayers were spoken in 15 languages simultaneously. Worship was led by Burnaby youth pastor Ben Woodman, who had gathered musicians from a variety of churches.

Carson also shared his hope of linking with other cities. George Johnson, veteran senior pastor of Harvest City Church in Vancouver, had outlined “a vision to link with five sister cities in different parts of the world,” Carson said.             – Peter Biggs
