As a 61 year old gay Canadian man with decades of experience in health care & who has buried 57 good friends to HIV/AIDS, I will forever remain stunned that TWU; one of the most fundamentalist institutions in Canada, can claim to engage in unadulterated science & the lofty profession of nursing. When one approaches the sick & dying with a preconceived hatred of an entire segment of humanity; ones competence has to be called into question.

Great story. How can we know the schedule of the pole traveling? How can we have it come to our community?

Great Article. I always was, and am a great fan of Larry Coryell. I went to see him perform every time he came to Philadelphia (Foreplay and Eleventh House). I have to say I find the term "legitimate" when referring to music of European Classical influence mis-informed. "he ended up writing fantastic legitimate works for string..." Versus the other kind?

@Marty:"This young man choked me up with his bold confession."
What confession? He's just shamelessly confessing that he doesn't know what "religion" is. He doesn't realize that what he thinks is courage is actually nothing more than cluelessness!

Interesting and refreshing. This young man choked me up with his bold confession.
Down with hypocrisy!!
In an age of "political correctness" and "Jesus the nice moral teacher" or " Jesus the prophet" I commend this youth and I pray his courage will be infectious.
Speak up Christians. Speak with boldness and let those who are offended have their conscience
pricked!

These Christians who have been evicted from their church buildings for their beliefs are to be praised for their consistent stand. H. Vincette, an unbeliever, apparently understands nothing of the issue, but uses his post to mock Christianity and suggests, without evidence, that anyone disapproving of homosexual behaviour opposes the existence of persons practising it. That sounds like the illogical but often-expressed refrain of pro-homosexuality activists who say in effect: "You disapprove of what I do, so you must hate me." That makes about as much sense as saying that anyone who disapproves of drug addiction hates drug addicts. By the same token we could say that H. Vincette obviously hates Christianity so he must hate Christians.

I have had the pleasure of living locally to Halkirk CSR, and have gotten to know both Bernie and Bernise, and Shane's brother Brook, and have nothing but good things to say about them. They have had such an impact on my life, and I can only imagine how strong Shane has become in his faith. I am only 15, but I will forever trust in the Lord my God :)

The mention of Ottawa, of course, denotes politics, & to me, the issue of constitutional rights accorded Canadians via our Charter of Rights & Freedoms.I recognize that freedom of religion is an essential component of liberty, but like most Canadians, & as expressed by our judicial interpretations of the Charter; this freedom does not include the right to deny, diminish, or eliminate; the rights of others. Conservative religious refuse to accept this, & throughout western democracies (& republics); have spared no effort in attempting to prevent the accommodation of an entire segment of humanity with the rights they enjoy. There may be subtle differences between the religious right of Canada & the US; but virulent opposition to the very existence of homosexual persons is the same.
