Typosquatter targets us
CanadianChristianity.com is a victim of 'typosquatting,' described by Wikipedia as a form of
cybersquatting which relies on mistakes such as typographical errors made
by Internet users when entering a website address into a web browser. In
this case, a site has been set up called www.canadianchristainity.com --
reversing an 'i' and 'a' in 'christianity' -- which includes some links to
legitimate Christian sites but also to Chicago hotels and bars.

Evangelicals and China
Staff from the Ottawa office of the Evangelical
Fellowship of Canada (EFC) attended a rally for human rights and
religious freedom in China at the Chinese Embassy in Ottawa August 7, the
day before the opening ceremonies for the Beijing Olympic Games. Two weeks
earlier, the EFC issued a media release and statements to the government
regarding religious freedom abuses associated with the Beijing Olympics.
Polio survivor rides
Polio survivor Gus Miller will be riding his bike from Ottawa to Montreal
August 15 to raise awareness and support for the ministry that helped him
overcome his drug addiction. "I started abusing my polio-ravaged body with
drugs when I was a boy of 10, to palliate the pain of having a crippled
body and being abused by those who were entrusted to my care and recovery
when I was a child and helpless," said Miller. "I arrived in Canada from
Peru twenty years ago, already deeply immersed in drug abuse. In 2001, I
realized I was committing suicide on the instalment plan. At the time, Jim
Dods encouraged me to attend church and give God a chance. I have been
drug free ever since." There will be a service at the Salvation Army Booth
Centre in Ottawa to start off the ride August 14, followed by a church
service at Madison
Baptist Church in Montreal August 17.
Young adults on Parliament Hill
Thousands of young adults will gather in Ottawa August 23 to pray and fast
for their nation and generation. This will be the third such event hosted
by TheCRY CANADA, following similar
gatherings in 2002 and 2006. Organizers describe TheCRY as "a movement of
young people, and young in spirit, who are serious about seeing Canada
return to her righteous Christian foundations." Director Faytene Kryskow
says: "As a movement we believe we are building on a foundation that has
been laid by so many who came before us and many who are now labouring
shoulder to shoulder with us, it is exciting to watch the hand of God so
clearly moving in Canada today."
