The Canada Institute of Linguistics is located at Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C. We provide training for Wycliffe Bible Translators and others interested in language and culture-related ministries. We specialize in Bible translation, endangered languages, literacy development and TESL.

A strong sense of community and a unique mentoring environment are fundamental aspects of the summer experience. Our students, staff and faculty interact both in and outside the classroom. Our staff and faculty teach from rich field experience and expertise.

Our community also has fun together outside the classroom – playing volleyball, ultimate frisbee, cycling, hiking, etc. The Pacific coast and mountains are close by.

All courses are accredited through TWU, and are transferrable to many other universities. CanIL offers BA and MA degree programs in linguistics, as well as a TESL certificate program.

So, come discover the richness of language and culture and how you can participate in providing God’s word to the nations. Acquire other languages using your personal strengths. Recognize and pronounce hundreds of sounds from around the world. Develop alphabets, compile dictionaries and describe grammars. Our training opens doors to effective cross-cultural service.
