Popcorn in church

Season 1 of Duncan United Church’s 2011 Film Festival began January 29 and will continue periodically on Saturdays at 1 pm until May. The church’s website, duncanunited.org, notes that each event in the festival provides an “entertaining and always thoughtful film.” And, furthermore, “popcorn and refreshments are served!” The remaining festival dates are February 19, March 19, April 23 and May 21.

Welcoming worshippers

Oaklands Chapel, soon to be marking 100 years of worship and service in the neighbourhood of the same name, recently has become home to congregations worshipping in two different languages. At 6 pm each Sunday, the Slavic Christian Centre is at home in the church; and, at 5:30 pm, a Spanish group, Christo Del Reino, is made welcome.
