According to George Anthony, Casey Anthony’s father, Casey had left the Anthony home on June 16, 2008 with Caylee and did not return for 31 days. Casey’s mother Cindy claimed she was in communication with her daughter throughout this time and repeatedly asked to see her grand daughter.
Casey made excuses during this time claiming that she was busy or that Caylee was with her nanny. She also told her mother that she was busy working at Universal Studios as an event planner which required long hours.
On July 13, 2008, Cindy and George were informed that Casey’s car was in a tow yard. When George Anthony went to pick up the car, both he and the tow yard attendant noticed that there was a strong smell coming from the trunk of the car which they suspected to be decomposing body remains. When the trunk was opened, they did not discover any remains but instead found a bag of garbage.
Shortly after, two-year-old Caylee Anthony was reported missing by her grandmother in a frantic phone call to police.
Caylee Anderson’s remains were found six months later as scattered bones in a wooded area close by to the Anthony household.
