According to a story by Barnabas Fund, reported by Assist News Service, almost all of the 50,000 to 60,000 Christians in the city of Homs in Syria have fled as fighting continues between the troops of President Bashar Assad and anti-government forces. Those who fled have said that opposition forces, including Muslim extremists from other countries, have attacked churches and Christians. Barnabas Fund reports that Christians throughout the country are in some danger of being attacked, either because they are Christians or because they are assumed to support the government. The government warned churches not to gather in large numbers over Easter for fear that their meetings would be bombed.
