Lois Schellenberg is the widow of Ed Schellenberg, an innocent bystander who was among the ‘Surrey Six’ murdered in October 2007.
She and Ed’s brother-in-law Steve Brown have joined others in calling for “changes in the way government administers justice in B.C.” in order to protect others from gang violence.
In March, they spoke to Justice and Human Rights Committee in Ottawa to call for “common sense and reasonable changes to the Criminal Code.”
However, she told a reporter for the Globe & Mail, “Nothing is changing the outcome in my family.”
She and Ed had been long-time members of the Immanuel Fellowship Baptist Church in Abbotsford. She said that she is not angry and her faith has helped her cope.
“God is in charge … He has a plan … and that’s what keeps us going.”
